Today happened something interesting: I got my first follower on Newgrounds.

Not a big deal, you might think. But imagine the following: I know Newgrounds for almost 15 years now. First, I was a casual visitor when searching for Flash-animations, later on, a frequent visitor to play Flash games and now an everyday visitor to relax after a hard day of work and just getting some inspiration or fun. I have an account since... I don't remember. But I never had any follower.

I am not just a consumer, I consider myself as a creative person as well. I draw comics, I try to program games, I make videos, I write texts, I try to get into voice acting, I love to search for independent tunes... All things which you can do on Newgrounds. Though, I do not really have that many submissions here. I always tried to be independent and create my own spaces where I can present my work or at least to be somewhat visible on several big communities at once. As you probably guessed it, I was never that big a shot anywhere. But I don't care about that.

As an over 35 year old guy, you can imagine that I am already a dinosaur in computer technology and hence I do not fancy modern stuff like communities or social networking. I don't need that stuff, I already got my live covered since quite a few years. But nontheless, I do know about such things as well. And I actually have some (mostly silent) followers on other platforms. I like to call them admirors, to make me feel more handsome :) Here on Newgrounds, nobody was following me. Up until today. And I was thinking: That is kind of sad, because this would be the one platform which deserves it the most. So to overcome the extreme(ophile) sadness, I am celebrating that one follower with all of you. Why?

Because I can.

Everybody can. Here on Newgrounds, it is still possible to joke around, to have a little fun, without the constant need to fight potential competitors, a thing which all other platforms out there suffer from. Here, you get noticed from day one the way you are supposed to be noticed, no matter who you are or what you create. It truely is the platform with everything by and for everyone.

I will continue to visit Newgrounds on a daily basis. Because it is as fresh as ever and it continues to be the one platform seperating the ones that love occasional penis jokes from the ones that don't. Happy Newgrounding to all of you!
